Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary School with your Tuesday talk mail.

As we continue our focus of Be Safe, we have learned about being safe inside our classrooms through school lockdown and allergy awareness. Students have learned about epi-pens and tomorrow morning, we will be practicing a whole school lockdown.

On Thursday afternoon, at 12:40ish, our whole school will be doing our Terry Fox walk and roll around the School Street loop. The weather forecast looks lovely! Family members are welcome to join us.

Friday is Orange Shirt Day- a day that most of us will be wearing orange shirts to honour residential school survivors and their families. We have talked about how Phyllis, who was sent to a residential school as a child, felt when her favourite orange shirt was taken away from her, and how every child should feel safe and happy at school. Wearing orange shirts symbolizes our collective commitment that every child matters.

Today, students from Hampton High School are dropping in at lunch time to talk to the students about their Fall Fair happening on Saturday, Oct. 7th at the high school.  Tonight, your child may be excited to talk about the HHS Fall Fair.

Next week, we will be selling school clothing! If you are interested in buying a t-shirt or hoodie for your child, stay tuned for information.

Finally, we are in need of sand toys. If you have sand toys in good condition that you would like to donate to us, (especially buckets and shovels) we would happily take them.

That’s it for today! Have a wonderful day!
